Garmin R10 GSPro setup
The Garmin Approach R10 is one of the lower-cost ways into GSPro, and GSPro lists it as a supported launch monitor. It connects to your PC over Bluetooth through GSPro Connect.
Garmin Approach R10 with GSPro at a glance
- How it connects
- Bluetooth from the R10 to your Windows PC, through GSPro Connect
- GSPro option
- Garmin R10 edition. Existing GSPro owners convert their license first
- You also need
- A PC with Bluetooth (a USB adapter works) and an active GSPro subscription
Connect the R10 to GSPro in six steps
Work through these in order. If a step differs from GSPro's own guide, follow GSPro's.
- 1
Check that your PC has Bluetooth
The R10 talks to the PC over Bluetooth. Most laptops have it. Many desktops do not, and a cheap USB Bluetooth adapter fixes that. Plug it in before you start.
- 2
Get the R10 edition of GSPro
GSPro licenses are tied to a launch monitor. New buyers pick Garmin R10 at checkout on the GSPro site. If you own GSPro for another monitor, use the license conversion tool on the GSPro site, then let GSPro download its update so you get the R10 build.
- 3
Pair the R10 with Windows
Open Bluetooth devices in Windows and choose Add a device, then Bluetooth. Hold the button on the R10 to enter pairing mode and pick it from the list. If it will not pair, close the Garmin Golf app on your phone first. The R10 may still be linked to it.
- 4
Start GSPro and pick the R10
Launch GSPro and enter your license key. When the GSPro Connect window opens, click the Garmin R10 button. GSPro Connect should find the unit on its own.
- 5
Leave GSPro Connect running
Minimize the GSPro Connect window. Do not close it with the X, because that ends the link to the R10. Then open the main GSPro window and load a course.
- 6
Hit a few test shots
Place the R10 behind the ball and square to your target line, as Garmin shows in its setup guide. Hit a few shots and check that the numbers look right before you start a full round.
Where R10 setups go wrong
The license still points at another monitor
If GSPro Connect does not offer the R10, the license probably has not been converted. Convert it on the GSPro site, then let GSPro update before you try again.
GSPro Connect got closed
The window looks like a launcher, so people close it once GSPro opens. Closing it ends the connection. Minimize it instead.
Weak Bluetooth link
An adapter at the back of a PC under a desk can drop the link. If shots stop registering, move the adapter to a short USB extension near the hitting area.
The community route is different
Some players bridge the Garmin Golf app to GSPro with community tools instead of GSPro Connect. Those are third-party projects and this page does not cover them. If you use one, your pairing steps will differ from the ones above.

Your phone stays free for Course Control
The R10 pairs to your PC, so your phone is not tied up in the connection. Course Control runs in your phone browser over WiFi and uses no Bluetooth, so it stays out of the R10 link. Scan the QR code, then change clubs, drop the green grid, or take a mulligan without walking to the keyboard. See how it works.
Garmin R10 and GSPro FAQ
Does the Garmin R10 work with GSPro?
Yes. GSPro lists the R10 as a supported launch monitor. You need the R10 edition of GSPro or a converted license, and a Windows PC with Bluetooth.
Do I need a Bluetooth adapter for the R10 and GSPro?
Only if your PC has no Bluetooth. Many desktops do not. A basic USB Bluetooth adapter is enough to pair the R10, and a better placed one can help if the link drops.
Can I use my existing GSPro license with a Garmin R10?
GSPro licenses are tied to a launch monitor, and GSPro offers a conversion tool on its site. Convert the license, then update GSPro. Check the GSPro site for any conditions.
Can I control GSPro from my phone while using an R10?
Yes. Course Control runs over WiFi in your phone browser, so it does not compete with the R10 link to the PC. Install it on the PC, scan the QR code, and use your phone for clubs, grid, camera, and the other menus.

Once the Garmin R10 is connected, stop walking to the PC
Course Control turns the GSPro controls you use most into buttons on your phone. Scan a QR code and play. $30 one-time after the free trial, no subscription.
